Managing Heart Disease

Alcohol, cholesterol, obesity, physical inactivity, smoking, and stress all contribute to heart disease. To learn more about each of these factors, click on the links to the left.
Additionally, the following programs are offered to manage various aspects of heart disease:

Cardiac Rehabilitation

A rehabilitation program that includes monitored and unmonitored outpatient exercise, a fully equipped gymnasium, patient education, and the resources of a multidisciplinary team of nurses, exercise physiologists, and dieticians.

Pacemaker Clinic
A clinic to treat patients with heart rhythm irregularities (arrythmias) and provides follow-up care and support to patients with pacemakers and defibrillators.
Coumadin Clinic

A program offered to patients who need permanent anticoagulation medication, it tests and manages dosages.
Support Groups
A Quit for Life smoking cessation program is offered monthly at St. Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences Center.

Mended Hearts is a monthly support group for the cardiac patient, their partner, family members, and caregivers.
