As a part of the University of Montana’s College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences/School of Pharmacy, the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (BMED) maintains a vigorous seminar schedule that features academic presentations covering topics in its many disciplines, including:
- Neuroscience and Neurological Diseases
- Toxicology and Environmental Toxicology
- Biomedical Sciences
- Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacogenetics
- Medicinal Chemistry
- Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Cardiovascular-Endocrine Disorders
- Cancer Research
BMED also collaborates with the Center for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS) and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (CHEM) to coordinate seminar offerings. The seminars feature work being conducted by faculty, graduate students, and experts or faculty invited from other academic institutions.
Additionally, the Journal Club includes graduate students and those pursuing continuing medical education in the Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences who meet to read and discuss current research literature.
The International Heart Institute of Montana Foundation, The University of Montana, and St. Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences Center continually encourage collaboration, dialogue, and communication between nurses, physicians, specialists, researchers, scientists, and the community in general.
